Historical Information

The USS Franklin (CV-13) was an Essex-class fleet aircraft carrier operated by the United States Navy. She was one of 24 completed ships in the class from 32 ordered and was commissioned on January 31, 1944.

Franklin served in Pacific operations. Her major assignments included the Marianas, the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and strikes against Japan.
