The Curtiss P-36 Hawk, known as the Hawk 75 in French service, was primarily used by the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air) during the 1939–1940 Battle of France. It was a key fighter for Groupes de Chasse (fighter groups) such as GC I/4, II/4, I/5, II/5, and III/2, often operating from bases in France, including Toul-Croix de Metz.
