Historical Background
The Nieuport 11, commonly known as the “Bébé,” was one of the most important Allied fighters of early 1916. Its lightweight construction and distinctive V-strut sesquiplane wing arrangement gave it excellent maneuverability and climb performance.
The type helped counter the German Fokker Eindecker during the period of the “Fokker Scourge” and was used by France and several other Allied air services.
