The Bell AH-1G Cobra was the original production version of the Cobra attack helicopter and the world's first purpose-built attack helicopter. It was developed specifically for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and entered combat in 1967. The AH-1G's service was concentrated primarily in Southeast Asia, though some aircraft continued to serve in the United States after the war.
