The Oeffag-built Albatros D.III was one of the most important fighters operated by the Austro-Hungarian Luftfahrtruppen during World War I. Produced under license by Oesterreichische Flugzeugfabrik AG, the Austrian-built aircraft incorporated several improvements over the original German design, including strengthened construction and powerful Austro-Daimler engines.
The type was flown by many leading Austro-Hungarian fighter pilots and remained an effective combat aircraft through the final years of the war.
