Later, it was heavily utilized by the Air National Guard (ANG) for ground attack and air defense until the early 1990s.
Key Locations and Operations:

- Panama: Participated in Operation Just Cause in 1989.
- Air National Guard Deployment: Deployed for training and defense missions, including in the Caribbean, Central/South America, and with units in the Netherlands.
- Air Force Bases: Operated from bases such as Nellis AFB, England AFB, and Davis-Monthan AFB.
The A-7D served in the USAF from the early 1970s before being transferred to the ANG, where it remained in service until being phased out by 1993.
