Please note: 1-200 & 1-144 scale prints will receive 3 fuel probes. We do not ship probes for 1-300 or 1-285 scale prints. They are just too small, thin, and break easily. I use a brush bristle for my models as they are much more flexible. for 1-200 scale I use a "cut to length" piece of jewelry brass/copper 26 gauge wire from the craft store.
 
 
Historical Context
The Douglas A-4B Skyhawk was the basis of Argentina's first Skyhawk fighter-bomber fleet. Argentina became the first foreign government to purchase the Skyhawk, acquiring former U.S. Navy A-4B airframes beginning in the mid-1960s. The refurbished aircraft were associated with the export designation A-4P, although they are widely referred to in Argentine service histories as A-4B Skyhawks.
The first batch arrived in 1966, followed by additional aircraft in 1970, giving the Fuerza Aérea Argentina a compact and dependable low-level strike aircraft.
 
 
Key Aspects of the A-4B Skyhawk History:
Development and Origin: Designed by Douglas as a lightweight carrier attack aircraft, the Skyhawk first flew in 1954. Its simple structure, small size, strong weapons load, and excellent low-level handling made it adaptable to both naval and land-based operations.
Military and Combat Operations:
Argentine Air Force: A-4Bs equipped the 5th Fighter Group and became a central part of Argentina's tactical strike force.
Falklands/Malvinas War – 1982: Grupo 5 A-4Bs flew repeated long-range, low-level attacks against British naval forces from mainland bases. The aircraft's reliability and ability to receive KC-130 tanker support helped make it one of Argentina's most heavily used strike types during the conflict.
Foreign Operators: Argentina was the Skyhawk's first foreign customer. The A-4P/A-4B configuration represented here was tailored to Argentine Air Force requirements.
Upgrades and Retirement: The surviving early Skyhawks remained in service after 1982 and were finally retired in the late 1990s as Argentina introduced the A-4AR Fightinghawk.
Design and Armament: The single-seat A-4B was armed with two 20 mm cannon and could carry bombs, rockets, and external fuel tanks on its pylons. This model represents the clean or fuel-tank configuration stated in the product title.
The A-4B became one of the defining Argentine strike aircraft of the 1982 conflict and established a Skyhawk tradition in the Fuerza Aérea Argentina that continued for decades.
