The A-10 Warthog, specifically designed for close air support, has been used extensively by the U.S. Air Force in numerous conflicts since 1991, most notably in the Gulf War, Iraq War, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, and against ISIS in Syria/Iraq. It is currently deployed for operations in the Middle East. 
 
Key Conflicts and Operations:
Gulf War (1991): The A-10 first saw combat in Operation Desert Storm, destroying over 900 Iraqi tanks, 2,000 armored vehicles, and 1,200 artillery pieces.
Iraq War & Afghanistan (2003–2010s): Played a critical role in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, providing close air support.
Yugoslav Wars (1990s): Participated in Operations Deny Flight and Allied Force.
ISIS Conflict (2014–Present): Deployed for airstrikes in Iraq and Syria, with current deployments as of 2026 for operations over Syria.
Iran Conflict (2026): Deployed to the Middle East for missions against Iranian fast-attack boats and militias. 
 
Primary Use Cases:
Close Air Support (CAS): Supporting ground troops, particularly against armored targets.
Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR): Protecting and recovering downed aircrew.
Counter-drone operations: Used in the Middle East for striking drones and smaller naval vessels.
