Historical Information
Nos. 431 (Iroquois) and 419 (Moose) Squadrons were Royal Canadian Air Force units serving in RAF Bomber Command. Their Halifax operations formed part of Canada's substantial contribution to the night bombing offensive.
No. 419 Squadron formed in Britain in December 1941. It operated Wellingtons before moving to Halifaxes and later Lancasters, reflecting the progression from twin-engined to four-engined equipment.
No. 431 Squadron formed in 1942 and initially flew Wellingtons. It subsequently operated Halifax V and III aircraft before finishing the war with Canadian-built Lancaster Xs.
Both units attacked targets in Germany and occupied Europe as part of the continuing bomber campaign. These markings represent their Halifax service and should be paired with the correct aircraft variant and date rather than their earlier Wellington or later Lancaster schemes.
