Historical Information

No. 75 (New Zealand) Squadron RAF was an important Stirling operator within Bomber Command. Its crews represented a major New Zealand contribution to the night bombing campaign before the unit converted to Lancasters.

No. 620 Squadron formed with Stirlings in 1943 and initially flew bombing and minelaying missions. It later transferred to the airborne-forces role.

In that later role, No. 620 Squadron's Stirlings towed gliders and carried troops and supplies. The unit participated in major airborne operations including Overlord, Market Garden, and Varsity.

The two options therefore cover different aspects of Stirling service. Match the code markings to the correct bomber or airborne-support configuration and date, since the same aircraft family served changing operational purposes.
