Historical Information

No. 76 Squadron re-formed in 1941 as the RAF's second operational Halifax squadron. Its development formed part of Bomber Command's transition toward a growing force of four-engined heavy bombers.

No. 102 Squadron also became a major Halifax operator after earlier service with the Armstrong Whitworth Whitley. The conversion increased its carrying capacity and placed it among the established Halifax units of No. 4 Group.

Both squadrons participated in the expanding night offensive against Germany and occupied Europe. Their operations included industrial targets, ports, and transportation centers within Bomber Command's wider campaign.

Although both units operated Halifaxes, their squadron codes and individual aircraft identities remained distinct. A model should combine the correct tactical letters with the appropriate airframe variant and period markings.
