The USS Bennington (CV-20) was an Essex-class fleet aircraft carrier operated by the United States Navy. She was one of 24 completed ships in the class from 32 ordered and was commissioned on August 6, 1944.
Bennington served in Pacific operations. Her major assignments included Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and strikes against the Japanese home islands.
