Historical Information
The USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), nicknamed “The Big Stick,” is the fourth ship of the Nimitz class. Built by Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, she was commissioned on October 25, 1986.
Theodore Roosevelt flew combat missions during Operation Desert Storm and later supported Operation Provide Comfort, Operation Deny Flight, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Allied Force. After the September 11 attacks, she conducted an extended combat deployment for Operation Enduring Freedom; later service included Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, and continuing Indo-Pacific and Middle East deployments.
