Historical Information
The USS Shangri-La (CV-38) was an Essex-class fleet aircraft carrier operated by the United States Navy. She was one of 24 completed ships in the class from 32 ordered and was commissioned on September 15, 1944.
Shangri-La served in Pacific and Vietnam operations. Her major assignments included strikes against the Japanese home islands in 1945 and later combat service during the Vietnam War.
