1-300 WWI Imperial Russia Aircraft Roundels

This sheet provides national aircraft markings for the Imperial Russian Air Service during World War I.

Historical Context

Imperial Russia established its military air service before World War I and entered the conflict with one of the larger aviation organizations in Europe, although domestic aircraft and engine production struggled to meet wartime demand. Russian aviation operated reconnaissance aircraft, fighters and bombers, including the famous Sikorsky Ilya Muromets heavy bomber. The Imperial Russian Air Service disappeared amid the revolutions of 1917, with its personnel and equipment eventually divided among the competing forces of the Russian Civil War.
