Historical Information

This sheet represents the late-war and postwar Soviet “Victory Star” style: a red five-pointed star with a broad white border and a thin red outer outline.

This red-white-red form began appearing on Soviet aircraft in the later stages of World War II, with examples seen from late 1943 and increasing use during 1944. It became the familiar postwar Soviet aircraft insignia and remained associated with Soviet military aviation through the end of the USSR. The same basic star form has also continued in Russian and Belarusian military aviation contexts.

An excellent general-purpose sheet for late-war and Cold War Soviet aircraft collections.
