1-300 South Vietnam Air Force Star & Bar Markings
 
This decal set reproduces the distinctive barred national aircraft insignia of the Republic of Vietnam Air Force. The design was influenced by the U.S. star-and-bar layout but incorporated South Vietnamese national colors and symbolism, making it instantly recognizable on aircraft of the Vietnam War.
 
The South Vietnamese air arm developed from the State of Vietnam aviation organization of the early 1950s. During the 1960s it adopted a new American-influenced barred roundel as the force rapidly expanded with U.S.-supplied aircraft and helicopters.
 
The insignia was carried across an enormous range of fighters, attack aircraft, transports, observation aircraft and helicopters until the Republic of Vietnam Air Force ceased to exist in 1975.
 
Representative Aircraft: A-1 Skyraider, A-37 Dragonfly, F-5 Freedom Fighter/Tiger II, O-1 Bird Dog, C-47, C-123, C-130, UH-1 Huey and CH-47 Chinook.
