Historical Information
1-300 South Korea Air Force Bars 2000 to Present
This decal set represents the modern Republic of Korea Air Force national aircraft insignia used from approximately 2000 to the present. The design retains the Korean red-and-blue Taegeuk symbol while using a revised American-influenced barred format for clear recognition on modern military aircraft.
The ROKAF was established in the late 1940s and adopted a distinctive barred national insignia during the Korean War era. Around 2000 the marking was redesigned into the modern form seen on current South Korean combat, transport and training aircraft, with subdued versions also appearing on tactical schemes.
The modern insignia reflects both South Korea's national symbolism and decades of close operational alignment with Western air forces. It is carried across a broad range of indigenous and imported aircraft.
Representative Aircraft: F-4E Phantom II, F-5E/F, KF-16, F-15K, FA-50, F-35A, KT-1, C-130 and other modern ROKAF aircraft.
Use period photographs to determine whether a particular aircraft carried full-color or low-visibility markings, as both treatments can be found on modern ROKAF aircraft.
