Historical Information

1-300 Singapore Modern Lion Low Visibility Roundels

This decal set represents subdued low-visibility versions of the Republic of Singapore Air Force Lion Head roundel. The reduced-contrast treatment is intended for modern tactical aircraft where a bright red national marking would be visually prominent against grey camouflage.

The Lion Head roundel was introduced by the RSAF in 1990, replacing the earlier stylized 'S' insignia. As Singapore's combat fleet modernized and increasingly adopted tactical grey finishes, lower-visibility forms of the national marking became appropriate for front-line aircraft.

These markings are particularly useful on modern fighters and support aircraft carrying operational schemes. Exact shade, size and contrast vary by aircraft and repaint period.

Representative Aircraft: F-16C/D, F-15SG, F-5S/T, G550 AEW, KC-135, A330 MRTT and other modern RSAF aircraft.

Consult photographs of the specific RSAF aircraft being modeled to determine whether full-color red or subdued Lion Head markings were carried at the selected date.
