Historical Context
No. 310 Squadron was the first Czechoslovak fighter squadron formed within the RAF, organizing at Duxford in July 1940 and entering combat with Hurricanes during the Battle of Britain. Its experienced Czech pilots became an important part of Fighter Command and No. 310 also flew as part of the Duxford Wing during the height of the campaign. Nos. 145 and 151 Squadrons were British Hurricane units that likewise took part in the 1940 air fighting, defending southern and eastern England and engaging German bomber and fighter formations.
The combination reflects the international makeup of Fighter Command, where exiled Czechoslovak airmen served alongside RAF and Commonwealth personnel in the same air-defense system.
