1-300 Egypt Roundels 1945 to 1958 Decals
These 1-300 Egyptian Air Force roundel decals reproduce the distinctive green-and-white national aircraft marking used from the closing months of World War II through the early years of the Egyptian republic. The design was first associated with the Royal Egyptian Air Force and continued after the monarchy was abolished in 1952.

Historical Information
The marking represented on this sheet was introduced in 1945. It reflected the green-and-white national identity of the Kingdom of Egypt and incorporated the crescent-and-star symbolism used in Egyptian state emblems of the period. Although Egypt became a republic following the 1952 revolution, the same basic aircraft roundel remained in use until 1958.
This period saw a dramatic transformation of Egyptian military aviation. Aircraft carrying the marking included late-war and postwar British types as well as early jets such as the Gloster Meteor, de Havilland Vampire, MiG-15, and MiG-17. Egyptian aircraft wearing this insignia participated in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and the 1956 Suez Crisis.
The roundel was replaced in 1958 when Egypt entered the United Arab Republic with Syria and adopted a new pan-Arab aircraft marking.
This marking spans two political eras: the final years of the Egyptian monarchy and the first years of the republic. It should not be confused with the later red-white-black United Arab Republic roundel introduced in 1958.
