1-2400 Italian Regia Marina WWII Hull Letters - Red

$4.89Price

The decals are specifically sized to GHQ Italian WWII DD castings but probably will work on other manufacture castings. There are 3 duplicate (in case you need a second shot) 2 letter codes for each Italian destroyer.

Historical Information

During World War II, the Regia Marina used short hull-identification codes on many destroyers and smaller surface combatants. These letter combinations were generally derived from a ship’s name and provided a quick visual means of identifying individual vessels within destroyer squadrons and flotillas.

Italian destroyers operated extensively in the Mediterranean in fleet actions, convoy escort, interception, minelaying, and supply missions to North Africa. Wartime ships also carried distinctive camouflage and air-recognition markings, making hull letters an important part of the visual identity of Regia Marina destroyers in photographs and on the gaming table.

Hull Code Reference

Use the two-letter code to match the decal to the correct Regia Marina destroyer. Codes were not always unique across the entire fleet, so the ship class is important when identifying a vessel.
