1-200 F-4E Killer SEADs 52nd TFW
The decals are specifically sized to fit our Erikgen printed F-4E Phantom II models at 1-200 scale. Includes historically accurate serial numbers while based at Spangdahlem AFB Germany during the 1980s. Fin Flash 23rd, 81st, & 408th TFS. There are 2 different accurate styles of shark mouths. There are sufficient markings for 10 total airframes.
The 52nd Tactical Fighter Wing (TFW), based at Spangdahlem Air Base in West Germany during the Cold War, operated the McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II alongside the specialized F-4G Wild Weasel. The F-4E provided conventional strike and air-to-air capability while also working with F-4Gs during NATO air-defense suppression missions.
Role: The F-4E was a versatile multirole fighter capable of air-to-air combat, conventional ground attack, and supporting Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) operations. When operating with F-4Gs, the F-4E could provide additional weapons and strike capability against identified surface-to-air missile and radar sites.
Squadrons: The 52nd TFW included the 23rd, 81st, and 480th Tactical Fighter Squadrons, which operated combinations of F-4E and F-4G Phantoms during the wing's Cold War service at Spangdahlem.
Wild Weasel Support: F-4Es frequently operated in conjunction with F-4G Wild Weasels. The F-4G used its specialized electronic equipment to detect, identify, and locate hostile radar emitters, while the F-4E could assist with conventional weapons, air-to-air protection, and attacks against enemy air-defense positions.
Camouflage: During the 1980s, 52nd TFW F-4Es could be seen in the camouflage schemes used by USAF tactical aircraft in Europe, including the dark green and gray European One scheme associated with late-Cold War operations from Spangdahlem.
Cold War Mission: Positioned close to the potential front lines of a NATO–Warsaw Pact conflict, the 52nd TFW maintained a high state of readiness. Its F-4Es formed an important part of NATO's tactical airpower in Central Europe, combining strike capability with the specialized Wild Weasel mission performed by the wing's F-4Gs.
